Quick Start Guide

This guide takes you from fresh install to a fully planned hunt — with waypoints, a HuntCast check, scent cone positioning, team GPS, and a Hunt Journal entry — in about 10 minutes.

Step 1 — Download & Create Your Account

1. Download ProHunt free

   ▶ Google Play (Android)  ·   App Store (iOS)

2. Sign up with email or Google

   Takes about 30 seconds. Your 7-day free Pro trial starts automatically.

3. Allow location permissions

   Choose Allow all the time (Android) or Always (iOS) for full functionality including team GPS and dog tracking.

Step 2 — Mark Your Stands as Waypoints

Waypoints are pins on the map. Use them to mark tree stands, blinds, bait stations, trail camera locations, and property boundaries.

1. Navigate to your hunting area

   Search for an address or landmark using the search bar, or pan and zoom the map manually. Switch to Satellite view using the layer icon for better terrain visibility.

2. Long-press to drop a waypoint

   Hold your finger on the map at your stand location. A pin drops and a menu appears.

3. Name and customise the waypoint

   Give it a name (e.g. “North Stand”), choose an icon (tree stand, blind, camera, etc.), and add optional notes. Tap Save.

4. Repeat for all stands

   Free users can save 5 waypoints (free). Pro users get unlimited waypoints.

Step 3 — Check HuntCast Before You Go

HuntCast produces one universal 0–100 hunt score across the next 3–16 days using a proprietary multi-factor formula — confirmed inputs include wind, moon phase, and barometric pressure, plus additional undisclosed variables. Free: 3-day forecast. Pro: 16-day forecast.

1. Tap the HuntCast score

   The score appears in the top corner of the map. Tap it to open the full forecast.

2. Find your best windows

   Look for windows scored 70+. Scores above 85 are exceptional.

3. Check barometric pressure trend

   A rising pressure after a cold front is one of the strongest indicators of deer movement. HuntCast factors this in automatically.

Step 4 — Position Your Stand with Scent Cone Pro

The Scent Cone feature shows you in real time where your scent travels based on live wind conditions.

1. Enable the Scent Cone layer

   Tap the Layers icon → enable Scent Cone. A coloured cone radiates downwind from your position.

2. Read the cone

   The cone shows the area where deer would be able to smell you. Stay upwind of where you expect deer to approach from.

3. Check the scent cone at each stand

   Look at where the cone falls relative to each stand: if your scent stream covers the directions game would approach from, the wind does not favour that stand.

4. Choose the stand the wind favours

   Move to a stand the wind favours. Re-check the scent cone if the wind shifts during the day.

Step 5 — Share GPS with Your Team Pro

1. Create a team

   Go to Team → Create Team. Name your team (e.g. your hunting club or family name).

2. Share the invite code

   ProHunt generates a 6-character code. Send it via text or chat to your hunting partners.

3. Everyone joins

   Partners tap Team → Join Team and enter the code. Their position appears on your map and yours on theirs in real time.

4. Know the SOS button location

   The SOS button sends your GPS coordinates and a custom message to the contact you choose in your SOS settings. SOS is free for every user. Set your contact before hunt day so it is ready when you need it.

Step 6 — Log the Hunt in Your Journal

The Hunt Journal builds a season-long record of what conditions, locations, and times produce results for you.

1. Open the Journal after your hunt

   Tap Journal → New Entry.

2. Fill in the details

   Log the species, number of animals seen, weather at the time (auto-filled from HuntCast data), stand location, and any observations. Add photos from the hunt.

3. Attach your GPS track

   If you recorded a track during the hunt, ProHunt can attach it to the journal entry so you have a map of your exact route.

4. Review and spot patterns over time

   Use the Journal history to find which stands, conditions, and times consistently produce sightings. The data makes you a better hunter season after season.
