ProHunting Regulations
Hunting regulations are complex, frequently updated, and vary by species, region, and season type. ProHunt aggregates official regulations for 22 countries into a searchable in-app database so you always know what is legal — regardless of where in the world you are hunting.
ProHunt regulations data is compiled from official government sources and updated regularly, but regulations change. Always confirm current regulations with the relevant wildlife management authority before hunting. ProHunt does not assume legal responsibility for regulation accuracy.
What the Regulations Database Covers
- Season dates — opening and closing dates for each season type (archery, muzzleloader, firearm, youth) by species and management unit
- Bag limits and possession limits — daily and season limits by species and unit
- Licensing requirements — what licences, tags, and permits are required and where to purchase them
- Legal weapons — which firearms, calibres, and archery equipment are legal by season and species
- Species-specific restrictions — antler restrictions, point requirements, doe days, and special provisions
- Safety zone distances — required distances from occupied buildings, roads, and other restrictions
- Non-resident rules — additional requirements for hunters from outside the jurisdiction
Country and Region Coverage
ProHunt covers hunting regulations for 22 countries, organised by country and subdivided by state, province, county, or management unit as appropriate for each jurisdiction:
- North America — United States (all states) and Canada. Most state/province regulations include management unit breakdowns where applicable.
- Europe — Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Austria, France, Spain, Italy, Poland, Czech Republic, Serbia, and Great Britain.
- Oceania — Australia and New Zealand.
- Africa — Tanzania, Namibia, and Zambia.
- South America and Asia — Argentina and Japan.
Using Regulations on the Map
When you enable the Regulations Zone map layer, management unit boundaries appear on the map. Tap any zone to see a summary of the regulations that apply to that specific area — season dates, bag limits, and key restrictions — without leaving the map view.
This is particularly useful when you are near a zone boundary. Knowing you are in Unit 4B versus Unit 5A can mean the difference between a legal archery season and a closed season.

ProHunt regulations cover all major huntable species in each jurisdiction including:
- White-tailed deer, mule deer, black-tailed deer
- Elk (wapiti), moose, caribou, reindeer

- A season opens or closes for your target species in your saved areas

- ProHunt compiles regulation data from official government sources and updates it as jurisdictions publish changes. Always confirm current regulations with the relevant wildlife management authority before hunting.
- What if my specific unit or zone is not listed?
- Coverage is continuously expanding. If your area is not detailed, the state or provincial level regulations are always present. Tap the Report Missing Data button in the regulations screen to notify the ProHunt team.
- Can I use regulations data offline?
- Yes. Regulation data for your downloaded map areas is cached locally and available without a connection.
